Peoria Ridge Golf Course
The 2014 golf season marked the beginning of a new era at Peoria Ridge Golf Course. The opening of the new clubhouse promised new opportunities, and Peoria Ridge is pleased to share those results. Rounds of golf increased by more than 20% compared to the previous year, and during that same time period total revenues increased by over $190,000. These increases were a result of increased daily fee play and memberships, the addition of banquet room services, and an expanded food and beverage operation.
Rounds of play were up by 3,300 compared to the previous year. This increase came as a result of a 12% increase in memberships, pricing modifications targeted at daily fee players, and improved customer retention efforts. The banquet center at Peoria Ridge served as the venue for numerous wedding receptions, class reunions, and private parties. By best estimates over 2,500 non-golfing guests visited Peoria Ridge to attend events being held in the banquet center. This is important as it proves the ability to draw in non-golfing revenues which is an important revenue stream particularly during the off-season. The largest increase in revenues was realized by the food and beverage operation. The increase of over 5,800 additional customers impacted nearly every facet of the business, but none more so than the food and beverage operation. Food and beverage revenues improved by over $90,000 as a result of the new bar and grill.
The backdrop to this success was not only the new clubhouse, but also the beautiful condition of the golf course. The 2014 season saw Peoria Ridge Golf Course in peak condition. Golfers were treated to tour caliber greens and expertly manicured tees and fairways. Additionally, several golf course projects were completed in 2014. These projects included the expansion of the drainage network on hole #1, the completion of the new water feature on hole #17, and the planting of over 40 new trees.
As the 2015 golf season gets underway, Peoria Ridge looks to capitalize on its recent success. The golf course promises to be in as good if not better shape, and continued course improvements will ensure a memorable experience for all guests. The maintenance staff is looking forward to the arrival of new equipment in the spring, and plans are in place for the continued renovation of several sand traps and the planting of more trees.
Continued growth is expected for the golf operation, and mild winter temperatures have already provided a springboard for a successful upcoming season. There will be several new programs added this season, and the success of existing programs will be reinforced. A restructured junior golf program will focus on not only introducing youths to the game of golf, but will also place an emphasis on the development of their golfing skills. Free beginner’s clinics will be designed to remove some of the barriers that prevent adults from taking up golf. Additionally, the men’s and women’s golf leagues will be provided additional resources to ensure continued growth.
There are also high expectations for the food and beverage operation in the upcoming year. Not only will the continued growth of the golf operation have a positive impact on food and beverage sales, but new programs and banquet services will have a beneficial influence also. A new breakfast service will provide a new revenue stream, and an event menu will provide a limited catering services to banquet guests. Buffet meals will be targeted at large groups, and an updated menu will maximize profitability.
There is great excitement and anticipation as the new season unfolds at. Peoria Ridge will continue to strive to provide all golfers and guests with an enjoyable experience and an exceptional facility
