INDIAN RESERVATION ROADS PROGRAM
The Indian Reservation Roads (IRR) Program was established under the authorization of, and pursuant to Title I of the Indian Self-Determination & Education Assistance Act, as amended (25 USC 450 et seq.).
Under program standards, the Peoria Tribe agrees to administer the program, services, functions, and activities in connection with the Indian Reservation Roads Program.
Work is completed on E90 Road (Pow Wow Road) improvements.
Tribal employee continues to monitor and inspect roads under the supervision of Tribal leadership. As needs arise our plan is updated and every effort is made to meet the needs of tribal membership. The Peoria Tribe continues to participate with the Seneca-Cayuga, Modoc, and Ottawa Tribes in alternating road construction priorities.
The long-range transportation plan is being updated regarding transportation needs in tribal jurisdiction, on Tribal trust property, and in areas where future economic development is being considered. Priorities beyond what has been established and planned for are being developed for the Tribal roads inventory to enable the Tribal employee to develop maintenance costs for each road. The planning funds are enabling the Tribe to maintain staff to update the inventory of roads, assess needs of the Peoria Housing Authority and support economic development. The program objectives are subject to change and will continue to be updated as the long range transportation plan is developed.
The short-range plan is being developed as well. The Tribal employee is working to get set up in the RFDIS program, to make record keeping easier and more efficient. Road conditions are reviewed periodically and data is logged.
