As many of you are aware, the Miami Nation has, since 1995, been engaged in revitalization of its language and culture.  One of the results of this revitalization is the Miami-Peoria Dictionary developed through the Myaamia Project at Miami University-Oxford, Ohio.

   Most recently the Miami Tribe’s Office of Cultural Resource Management has worked with Sandra and Yasu Osawa of Upstream Productions to create a thirty-minute educational documentary entitled “myaamiaki eemamwiciki:  Miami Awakening.  This video documentary will be shown at the historic Coleman Theater in downtown, Miami, Oklahoma at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5.  There is no admission charge for this showing.

   Language workshops are scheduled at the Miami Tribal Longhouse on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 3 and 4, beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Classes are for beginners, youth and children.  There is no charge to attend and lunch will be provided for this day long event.
